| What is “TeamTalk?”
TeamTalk, also referred to as PassPort, is a wide-area dispatch
that covers all of the Southwestern United States at the touch
of a button. This system tracks you as you travel from one area
to another giving you the opportunity to communicate anywhere using
different mountain top sites within the system.
What are the benefits of this type of network?
It is a great solution for wide-area dispatch users and the area
of coverage is virtually unheard of in the industry of analog dispatch.
Additional features include seamless roaming from site to site
without having to manually change channels/mountaintop repeaters,
as well as automatic registration and deregistration at each site.
How good is the system coverage?
TeamTalk operates on the 450 MHz frequency band at 12.5 kHz bandwidth.
Because of the frequency band, the signal travels and covers the
ground better than higher frequency spectrums.
Is TeamTalk analog or digital?
The PassPort system is both analog and digital. When transmitting
to another user, your voice is analog to the mountain top and is
then converted to digital to another mountain top and once again
converted back to analog at the receive end.
Do all radios work on the TeamTalk network?
No, only certain radios can be programmed
to work on our network. Currently, these radios are: Motorola
M1225, HT1250LS, P1225, CDM1550LS;
Icom F4-TR-01, F4TR-11; Kenwood TK-380, TK-880 – with more
being added soon.
If you are on the TeamTalk network can you still have a local
talk-around channel within your fleet?
A customer can have a talk around UHF channel programmed into
their radios in addition to the TeamTalk system as long as the
customer is licensed on that frequency.
Do you need an FCC license to use the PassPort system?
No, because you are on our networked system. You are simply authorized
to use frequencies that are already licensed through us.
